To read poems with your family, to know poems by heart, to understand poetry, to love poetry even, are all attractive life-goals, but they are not easy. What does it look like to make poems and poetry a consistent part of your life? And not just your life, but your family life too?

In addition to practices, we will briefly explore these questions: How did families and communities experience and create poetry across the ages? Is it even possible to understand a poem by yourself? What is unique about poetry among all the genres of literature?
