Learn Latin through play!

This immersive Latin resource provides a rich liturgy for daily use, all year long. Each day, the students begin with a passage in Latin from the days of creation and then recite a short catechism related to a color, animal, time, a Roman god or goddess associated with that day, and one of the Seven Liberal Arts. Each day also includes a song and game. While the book provides content for one full week, it is designed to be used anew each week so the students internalize the Latin through repetition rather than rigor.

Hodie Latine is not a textbook or workbook, but a little book of delights, meant to invite students into the joys of learning Latin without translating anything into English. Rather than learning from Latin to English, students learn through pictures, cognates, and associations, and they use their bodies while doing so.

Through the daily catechism and memorized phrases, students internalize Latin structures and forms without them being explicitly taught. By building and furnishing the student’s memory of these Latin forms, you begin preparing the young student for a Latin language journey in an enjoyable and pleasant way.

We recommend this book for Latin learners of all ages. For students as young as five, this book can be used alone as the Latin resource for the year. For advanced Latin students, this book can be used to build fluency and incorporate liturgy into their studies.

While Hodie Latine is entirely written in Latin, the introduction includes English directions for use, making this resource accessible to even the beginning teacher.
