Love. Yes, things have got much more complicated. The appetites have a way of doing that.
The more suffering we create the more drama we get out of it. Hollywood has a vested interest in these complications. On the one hand, it helps some people get in touch with their feelings, but on the other, it gives those feelings more power than they ought to have. It’s made us a nation that would fit the stereotype of the junior high drama queen.
This reminds me of Paul McCartney’s defense of the Beatles when he said that they sang about love and that can’t be bad. I disagree profoundly. Mislead people on what love is and you have disordered a whole society or, in this day and age, world.
Love needs the mind and the appetites in harmony.
