The Bible teaches that we suppress the truth in unrighteousness. In other words, we don’t miss the truth because of a lack of information but because we have what Gertrude called “My sick soul, as sin’s true nature is.”
But from at least Bacon onward, knowledge has been seen as a means to various sorts of power through the manipulation of information.
I’m not sure what to do with this contrast, but it seems like something we should think about.
