Normative Vs. Analytical Writing

Here’s an example of the difference between normative and analytical teaching. I can join the multitudes that offer classes to improve your score on the SAT essay exam. Or I can teach you how to write.

The multitudes approach is analytical. Teaching you how to write would be normative.

Which would do you more good? Which do you think would lead to higher SAT scores?

Then why does everybody want the test prep while so few bother actually learning things?
