The Fables of Aesop is out now!

Bread and Circuses or Bread and Fishes?

Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion on the mulititude, because they have been with me now three days, and have nothing to eat; and I am unwilling to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way.”

And the disciples said to Him, “Where are we to get bread enough in the desert to feed so great a multitude.”

When I read these words and when my mind takes in this desert, I feel a conviction and a compulsion that strives to become a compassion. My heart is troubled to think of the rioters in London acting out their hunger in violence and robbery. My heart is troubled to think of the hungry multitude who are our people. I am unwilling to send them away hungry.

Who is feeding this multitude?

I want to distribute the bread and fishes. Will you join me?
