I don’t even know where to begin to evaluate this news article about the failures of character education. Maybe someday I’ll be able to approach it analytically, but if you’ve read two or three posts on this blog you know something about my disappointment with every one of its elements.
I’ll say this much: when you don’t believe in character as character, and when you clog the springs of character formation, you won’t get men with chests. I still chuckle when I think back on the puerile attempts by our school administrators to modify our behavior back in the day.
