The CiRCE Online Conference Begins This Friday!

2008 conference

On July 27-29 of 2008, the CiRCE Institute will be conducting our 7th annual conference in Houston, TX. Our Savior Lutheran School is hosting the conference in a church that can only be described as a national treasure. Patterned on a beautiful rural copy of the Frauenkirche in Dresden, it is an octagonal structure made of stone and wood and it is unquestionably among the most beautiful and unique churches I have ever entered (which include the “Dome” in Cologne, St. Stephen’s in Vienna, The National Cathedral in Washington, DC, the church where Captain and Maria Von Trapp were married, some old churches in London, including Stott’s All Souls, and a number of other churches and Cathedrals).

The theme for this conference is A Contemplation of Humor. Yes, you’ll hear lots of funny jokes and learn how to use humor in the classroom. But humor is a deep thing and you can be certain that we will be exploring those depths and determining how they relate to the cultivation of wisdom and virtue.

Based on conference reviews for this year’s conference, the location in Houston where six schools have stepped forward to sponsor the conference, and verbal commitments from a number of school leaders, we expect the conference to reach its limit of 200 people by the end of the year. I hope you’ll be among them.

A registration page will be added to our web site within a week or two, so keep your eyes peeled like a banana.

And start collecting jokes! Who knows, you might have a chance to tell them.
