In Plato’s Timaeus his teacher Socrates does not guide the students through ultimate questions using the Socratic method—as he does in so many of the other dialogues. Rather, Socrates shows teachers how to assess students, presents metaphors for imagining our classrooms, and offers us a helpful introduction to the purpose of education.
