Presented at the CiRCE National Conference 2023.

Christ was the Logos that create all things and without Him nothing was made that was made, and yet, when he became man he performed his first miracle at the behest of His mother. Why would the most powerful man to walk this earth submit to his mother? In this talk, we will explore early Christian symbols of Mary the Mother of Christ to see how they viewed her and what they can teach us about feminine power. We will also consider how these symbols have been appropriated to address the “woman question” in the modern era. Exploring paintings, hymns, meditations, poetry, and literature, this talk will journey through the arts to find the true feminine made manifest.
