We often talk about the liberal arts in terms of stages, categories, and even skills. But what is missing in many explanations of the liberal arts are discussions around the goals and purpose of the arts. If we consider the connection between the liberal arts and the pursuit of glory—both ours and God’s—it could have a significant impact upon our instructional habits and methodology. So, what is it that we need to understand about the liberal arts that could potentially not only change our view of the arts, but draw us closer to understand the weight of God’s Personhood?
