Jesus arrived at a well in the middle of the day to give living water. Jesus slept on a boat in the middle of a rough sea to calm the waters. Jesus sat at a dinner table in the middle of the evening to receive perfumed water. In each of these circumstances, the witnesses were amazed and befuddled. These actions did not fit what had been asked, dreamed, or expected.

George MacDonald wrote tales about princesses to help little girls know who they are and to whom they belong. Parents have told fairy tales to help their children know the lovely and the despicable. Teachers teach the Iliad to help their students to know excellent men and to motivate them to arete.

Let’s revisit mythos and eros as wind that elevates our students’ hearts.
