In Lost Tools of Writing I & Little Britches, students will be transported to a time when horses were the main mode of transportation, the family cow had to be milked before school, entertainment was riding a mule, and mama read books by candlelight. “Little Britches” and “Man of the Family” are the first two books in Ralph Moody’s autobiographical series in which his family moves from New Hampshire to Colorado in 1908. The pleasures and hardships endured in these books truly cause a person to pause and give thanks for the blessings that have been bestowed on them. Students will have the pleasure of experiencing this for themselves as their vision of the true, the good, and the beautiful becomes clear. They will use the Lost Tools of Writing, to ask good questions, wrestle with convictions, learn to make good decisions, organize their thoughts, and follow instructions. They will find a safe haven to grow in the depth of their thinking and respectfully discuss their discoveries with fellow classmates. Through the tools of elocution, editing, and formatting, students will learn to humbly and persuasively communicate their convictions and engage their readers using the written word. Join us as we journey to grow in mind, heart, pen and paper.
