This yearlong class is for students with previous experience with Level One. We’ll do Essays Five through Eight from Level One the first semester, then take a deep dive into the topic of comparison in the second semester with the Comparison Essay. In the first semester, using C. S. Lewis’s The Silver Chair as a starting point, we’ll enter the medieval literary world via Beowulf, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, and Macbeth. In the second semester, we’ll see how the mythos of the ancient world prepared the way for the Logos by comparing a selection of Greek myths and medieval fairy tales (provided by instructor).
