This year-long course will instruct students in the practice of close reading, and address the three problems every writer faces: what to write about, how to order our thoughts, and how to express persuasively and beautifully. Using CS Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia, we will learn a method to highlight while reading, and acquire skills for writing persuasive essays. We will cover the first 2-3 books in the series during the first semester and the remaining books 3-6 in the second half. We will use Lost Tools of Writing Level 1 to guide us with thinking, organizing, and editing essays.
