All the saints of the Old Testament, the New Testament, and Church history have known that it is never enough to turn habits into virtue through sheer force of will. So did Plato. Nevertheless, we need habits and we need them to be virtuous. Glancing at Aristotle’s and Plato’s approaches to virtue formation, this talk argues that each of them is fulfilled in the Biblical revelation and the life of faith.
