One reason people often say, “Don’t judge me” is because those who judge them tend to be so careless, triumphal, and insensitive. Hiding behind abstractions like grades and numbers doesn’t remove the sting. In this workshop, participants explore how to judge with an appropriate humility so that our feedback nourishes growth and avoids demoralizing or distracting our students (or anybody else we assess). Learn how to step away from the tacit intimidation and fear of conventional assessments and how to embrace grace and charity so that those you assess are blessed and are better able to receive the blessing you offer.
