Are you an incoming teacher to a classical school? Have you taught in a classical school for years and desire to understand more about Christian classical education? Would you like to take a deeper dive into the Christian classical classroom? This intensive is for you! The classical renewal, which began with Dorothy Sayers’ essay “The Lost Tools of Learning”, has grown and been refined over the decades following her call for a change. We will discuss the history of CCE and where we are now, defining together what undergirds a classical education. Other topics include the five common topics, mimetic and socratic instruction, and assessment. This will be a time of engaging with each other to refine our own understanding of classical education through the webinars as well as through our Canvas forum. Come contemplate and implement the possibilities this education offers. Christian classical education is the pursuit of wisdom and virtue by nourishing the soul on the true, the good, and the beautiful by means of the seven liberal arts and the four sciences so that people are better able to love, know, and enjoy God forever. Headmasters, do you have teachers who are new to this renewal, new to your school, or are aiming to implement classical pedagogy in their classrooms? This course is designed for teachers to become acquainted with the fundamentals of a Christian classical education. Teaching is an art. Invite your teachers to join us as CIRCE Certified Classical Teacher and Apprenticeship Head Mentor Molly Rychener weaves these fundamentals into the tapestry of your school by aiding the teachers in perceiving them.
