The Fables of Aesop is out now!

Three Things You Must Not Do

Jesus said, “Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you.”

The enemy does anything he can to keep us from asking, seeking, and knocking.

Three effective things include:

1. He convinces us that it has already been given and there is no more need to ask, that we have already found and there is no more need to seek, that the door has already been opened and there is no more need to knock.

2. He convinces us that no amount of asking will ever lead to a giving, that no amount of seeking will ever lead to a finding, and that no amount of knocking will ever lead to an opening.

3. He convinces us that there are so many things to ask for that we don’t even know which to choose, that there are so many things to seek that we don’t know which to look for, that there are so many doors to knock on that we don’t know which to select.

Perhaps the solution is simply to keep on asking, confident that He will give, to keep on seeking, confident that He will reveal, and to keep on knocking, confident that He will open.

The one who has ears to hear, let him hear.
