Art is fundamentally an act of receptivity and adoration. The great artist is the one able to prolong and discipline the energy in his soul for awe and to apply intelligence and order to it in a way that allows him to bring everything, or at least, an awful lot, under the direction of that energy.
Worship is and will always be the true ground of art and therefore of civilization and of human development.
