Permanent Dilemmas: Permanent Principles

While the Packers were wining their fourth Super Bowl, quite a few were remembering President Reagan’s birth day one hundred years ago on February 6, 1911. What an era he grew up in!

Lately President Reagan has become more of an icon than a former president, which is unfortunate because there were things he saw with glaring clarity. If you haven’t heard this speech from 1964, you need to watch it. The tribal thinking that leads the conventional so-called “liberals” to foam at the mouth when President Reagan is mentioned is exposed as insensitive and childish when you hear his arguments. We don’t need him back – he did his work. But we sure need people who can make the case he made with the grace and dignity he expressed in making it.
