The Tradition of Truth

Another issue that came up in my discussion with Dr. Kopf yesterday was what he called “the tradition of truth” vs. STEM, an acronym used by the movement to base education on the four activities of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

I love every element of STEM. Some of the finest minds and people I know are engineers who can also read and pray. But to base education on STEM or to make STEM the desired outcome of education is to make the branches of a tree the roots or the fruit.

If you love science, don’t let it usurp the king.

The king is and always has been and always must be the truth. That is the foundation and the end of education. To train people to know truth and live it is the purpose of education. Anything else undercuts itself by exalting itself.
